Cinzia is a doctor in microelectronics by training and a multi-passionate creative by nature. Originally from Italy, Cinzia has lived and worked in different countries and speaks Italian, English, French, some German.
She has over six years of experience in academic research focused on experiments on nanomaterials and silicon microfabrication and the resulting applications in biotechnology, sensing, and novel cooling strategies in smartphones. Cinzia strongly believes that progress is more than innovation.
With her technical background, Cinzia saw an opportunity to transfer the endless possibilities of microelectronics into the pioneering biological field of the Organ-on-chips.
Cinzia is co-founder and CEO of the start-up BIOND Solutions B.V. – a Dutch biotech company with the aim to disrupt the in vitro drug development in the pharmaceutical industry and to enable the road toward personalized disease treatment.
Cinzia completed a B.S. and an M.Sc in Electronic Engineering from the University of Roma Tor Vergata. She has worked as a research assistant at the Technical University of Munich. She earned her PhD in Microelectronics from the prestigious Delft University of Technology. She has worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Delft University of Technology before shifting the career path to pursue her entrepreneurial dream.
