Cristina Messa

Rector of Milano-Bicocca University

Cristina Messa is full Professor of Diagnostic Imaging. From October 2013 she is Rector of the University of Milano-Bicocca and from 2015 she is member of the Board of the Conference of Italian University Rectors, in particular she is Delegate for the Research. In October 2018, she has been nominated as member of the Don Carlo Gnocchi Foundation Scientific and Technical Committee.

In April 2018, she has been selected as a member of the EUA Nominations Committee; in June 2017, she has been designated by the Ministry of Education, Universities and Research member of the Italian Observatory for Specialized Medical Education. From November 2016 to May 2018 she has been member of Human Technopole Coordination Committee, a national cross disciplinary research infrastructure.

In July 2013, she has been designated as one of the Italian Delegate for Horizon 2020, in particular she is the MIUR Delegate for Research Infrastructures, including e-infrastructures.

She has been Vice President of CNR, the National Research Council, from 2011 to September 2015. Cristina Messa has a long-standing experience of experimental research in diagnostic imaging, nuclear medicine, radiological science, particularly with regards to neurodegeneration and neoplastic transformation. She is author of more than 180 scientific papers. Her publications received more than 7.000 citations, with an average of more than 300 citations/year in the last 15 years, including papers with more than 110 citations each. More than 60% of scientific papers are in the first quartile of "Web of Science". Her global H-Index is 49.
