Gea Smith

Gea was born in Rome from an Italian mother and British father. She studied Classics at school and Mathematical Logic at the University of Rome “La Sapienza”, where she graduated summa cum laude with a dissertation on Linear Logic and Proof Theory. In parallel to school and university studies she studied music at the Conservatorio of Rome “S. Cecilia” and obtained a full degree in piano also with top grades cum laude.

Gea chose to enter the consulting world and started her career in Andersen Consulting, now Accenture, in the Communications, Media & High-Tech division: throughout her career at Accenture she worked and managed increasingly complex business and technical transformation projects in Italy and around the world (OTE, Vimpelcom, Maxis, Vodafone, Etisalat, H3G among others) always centered around leading-edge technologies and digital innovation. In 2006 she was in the core team that launched DVB-H, the first solution to deliver TV services on mobile phones via broadcasting technology, in H3G Italy first, then in Maxis Malaysia and in Vimpelcom.

In 2015 she joined Microsoft Italy as Sales Manager in the Enterprise Commercial division leading sales for Office365. She then moved on to Microsoft Consulting Services where she was asked to lead the Global Fiat Chrysler Automobiles account, landing the biggest consulting project in the history of MCS Italy and a strategic partnership between Microsoft and CNH Industrial. The solution shaped by Microsoft has enabled CNH to leverage a cloud-based IOT platform to connect agricultural and industrial vehicles and deliver telematic services.

She recently joined Capgemini where she is now leading the Digital Consulting Unit for the Italian Telco & Media Industry.

She is married to a university professor and lives in Milan with her husband and their 9-year old son, Rodolfo and their 14-year-old cat Papela.
