Ferruccio Resta

Rector of Politecnico di Milano

Ferruccio Resta was born in Bergamo in 1968. In 1992 he graduated in Mechanical Engineering at Politecnico di Milano, where, in 2004, he was appointed Full Professor of Applied Mechanics. Since January 2017 he has been serving as Rector. 

He is currently a member of the Boards of Directors of Fondazione Silvio Tronchetti Provera and Veneranda Fabbrica del Duomo. He is a member of Human Technopole Project Coordination Committee and of the Address Council of BEIC Foundation. He takes part to the Board of Directors of SIAM - Società d'incoraggiamento arti e mestieri, to the Board of Trustees of CEN – European Center for Nanomedicine, and to the Guarantee Committee of Fondazione Collegio delle Università Milanesi.

His research activities address the following topics: dynamics of machines and mechanical/electromechanical systems; mechanics of road and rail vehicles; control and actuation systems for industrial automation; robotics; mechatronics and vibration control; fluid-structure interaction and wind engineering. The research  activity has led to more than 220 scientific papers, on both national and international journals, as well as to 7 patents.
