Silvia Wang was born in 1986 in Italy, shortly after her parents relocated from China. Her parents had moved to Italy with the hopes of finding a means to sustain their family. They di so by opening Brescia’s first Chinese restaurant, where Silvia worked from very young age taking table reservations. She grew up in Brescia, experiencing the tough ups-and-downs of running a family business, and graduated cum laude in Marketing Management at Bocconi University in Milan.
In 2012 she started working for Rocket Internet as Marketing Manager and moved to Taiwan; after 1 year, Rocket asked her to move to Indonesia. In both countries she helped several Rocket startups scale up; among these are Zalora, the largest fashion e-commerce in South East Asia, and Lamido, part of Lazada Group, which is the equivalent of Amazon for South East Asia.
In 2015 Silvia decided she wanted to use her newly-acquired tech- and scaling-skills for something that had a stronger social impact. For this reason, she came back to Italy and co-founded ProntoPro. In 3 years ProntoPro became Italy’s number 1 local service marketplace, rapidly reaching 1 million users and over 300.000 local service professionals. Today ProntoPro has over 100 employees across 2 offices (Milan and Vienna), with plans to open more.
